Sazon Birthday Cake

I had a very unusual request for a birthday cake, but I am so glad I did. This are very fun cakes to make and deliver.

A friend of mine was celebrating her birthday and a friend/co-worker of hers wanted to surprise her with a cake. Apparently they have a joke amongst them and they call my friend "sazon" which is a seasoning used to cook with, typically yellow rice, beans, soups and other foods where you would want a nice touch of season and a hint of color.

I was so excited to make this cake, not only because it was a fun cake to make; but because I am very fond of the birthday cake. I wish her the best of the birthdays and many more to come!

Here is a picture of the design I had printed out in sugar to put on top of the sheet cake.

I didn't tell the lady that printed my sugar sheet to enlarge it and it came out smaller than I had hoped, so I improvised and colored fondant to match the sugar sheet. It came out pretty nice. I am proud of it and like it a lot. So did the birthday girl and at the end of the day that's all it matters.

Now I want to share with you the cake itself.
